Fishing ReportReport Date: December 21, 2007Folks sorry for the long delay between reports but this is duck and deer hunting season. OK on to the fishing report. The trout bite has remained the same. They are still up in the creeks and in some of the deeper holes on the flats. We have been having great luck using suspending and sinking mirror lures. Cast up current and slow roll it along the bottom back towards the boat. Last week we caught 5 limits of good size trout. The redfish bite is where the action has been. This cooler weather still has them grouped up in tight schools. We have been pushing quietly along the flats until we spot one or two and then we slow everything way down and start watching closely for the nervous water and or tails. We have found that the best bite has been during the lower half of the falling tide or at low tide. I know you have all heard this before but the right bait to use at this time is a gold spoon, suspending mirror lure or a soft plastic bait such as a Gulp sinking minnow or a 4” Gulp shrimp. We have spooked more than we have caught because they are SHALLOW and the water has been calm and clear. This means you will have to kick your stealth into high gear. Use long cast and the lightest line you think you can get away with. Cast to one side of the school and slowly work the bait towards the school. Back to Main Fishing Report Page
